CSUN Women's Center to Celebrate 'Herstory' Month

The Cal State Northridge Women's Center and the university's Women's Studies Department will kick off a month-long tribute to the cultural contributions of women with a lecture by Gloria Anzaldœa at 12 p.m. on March 12 in the Performing Arts Center.

Anzaldœa is the author of Border Lands/La Frontera: The New Meztiza which was chosen as one of the best books of 1987 by the Literary Journal. She is also the editor of Making Faces, Making Soul/Haciendo Caras, and the recipient of the Before Columbus Award and NEA Fiction Award.

"Gloria Anzaldœa is one of the most impressive and influential Chicana feminist writers of our time," said Julia Watson, Chair of the Women's Studies Department. "Her linking of issues of gender, ethnicity, class, and sexuality in an analysis combining the personal and political is compelling. We are privileged to have her visit during women's history month."
