CSUN to Host Open House for Developmentally Disabled Children

The Family Focus Resource Center at Cal State University, Northridge will host an Open House for developmentally disabled children on January 27 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. The Open House is for school-aged children from 13 to 21 years old.

The center offers services and guidance to caretakers of the developmentally disabled in every age group from birth to the geriatric stage.

Its services include seminars on the laws and rights of the developmentally disabled, independent living, recreation, advocacy skills, behavioral management and transitions.

The center also provides resources and referrals, identifies parent mentors to support families in need of assistance, and offers a "warmline" for inquiries and requests. Counselors are divided among four age groups to give individualized attention to issues that affect each group.

The Open House will be held in the Family Focus Resource Center located in the Education Bldg., Room 3113.
