CSUN to Host "College: Making It Happen"

In the wake of Gov. Pete Wilson proclaiming February as "College Awareness Month", California State University, Northridge, will host "College: Making It Happen" on Feb 22.

The program, aimed at 6th through 9th grade students and their parents, provides practical information on how to prepare academically and financially for college.

The day will feature a variety of workshops on such topics as financial planning for your child's education, creating a learning environment at home, the importance of standards and assessments, and understanding adolescents.

In addition, representatives from CSUN, University of California -- Los Angeles, Mission College, California Institute of Technology, Pierce College and California Lutheran University will be on hand to answer questions from students and their parents.

The program will be from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the University Student Union on the east side of the campus at 18111 Nordhoff St.

An RSVP is recommended by Feb 14. Childcare, refreshments and door prizes will be provided.
