This is the second year that the university's College of Business Administration and Economics has honored community business leaders. Last year's recipients of the COBAE Awards for Business Leadership were The Xerox Corporation and F. Anthony Kurtz, a retired businessman.
"Each year, we honor a corporation and alumnus for their exemplary leadership and commitment to the college's mission to enrich our community by preparing students to succeed in a diverse and dynamic economy," said William Hosek, dean of the college. "This year, we are pleased to honor Great Western and John Golish."
Great Western Bank is being recognized for its support, both financial and education, and commitment to the college.
Golish, a Northridge resident who graduated from CSUN in 1972, is also being honored for his commitment to the college, where he has volunteered time for many years in garnering support for both the college and the university.
The awards will be presented at a special luncheon scheduled from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on May 6 in the University Club on the southeast corner of the campus at 18111 Nordhoff St. in Northridge.
