CSUN Offers Tour of China

Excursions to far-off places like China can be less than fulfilling if your only companion is a rudimentary tourist guide book. The China Institute of Cal State Northridge has one solution -- a 21-day tour of China later this year from July 20 to August 9.

Led by Li-Bu Larson, a Chinese-language instructor at CSUN, the tour will offer direct and personal contact with Chinese educators and educational institutions. Larson will give lectures on Chinese history, culture, language and education throughout the journey.

Additionally, there will be several mini excursions to scenic rural areas where travelers can visit with farm families and immerse themselves in Chinese culture while learning about its economic structure.

The itinerary includes visits to Beijing, Weifang, Jinan, Xian, Wuhan, Chongqing, Guilin, Shanghai and a Yangtze River cruise. Two optional post-tour extensions to Suzhou or Hong Kong will also be available.

Prior to departure, the travelers can participate in a free Mandarin lab to prepare for their adventure.

The cost of the trip is $3,416 per person, double occupancy, including round-trip airfare from Los Angeles to China, all ground transportation, hotels, meals, a cruise, sightseeing and exclusive tours.
