The Asian American Community Newsletter Collection is an archival record of Asian American community organization newsletters which will be available for students, scholars, and community activists to study.
Newsletters serve as contemporary records of the daily activities and relevant issues of the community. Preserving them will provide an invaluable source of historical information for future generations.
The collection will join hundreds of others of interest to Southern California in the Urban Archives at CSUN, including Japanese American newspapers from WWII relocation camps, and the Southern California Labor Newspaper Collection.
Acquisition of the newsletters has begun, and the files will be available to the public by the end of summer 1997 in the Special Collections section of the main library.
