7 CSUN Students Selected For Who's Who

(NORTHRIDGE, Calif., March 29, 2004) -- Seven Cal State Northridge students have received recognition as outstanding national campus leaders in the 2004 edition of Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges.

The students were selected by CSUN's nominating committees and the editors of the Who's Who annual directory based on academic achievement, service to the community, leadership in extracurricular activities and potential for continued success.

Who's Who names an elite group of students from more than 2,300 institutions of higher learning in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and several foreign nations. Outstanding students have been honored in the annual directory for 70 years.

Who's Who originated in 1934 when Pettus Randall, an undergraduate student from the University of Alabama, was declined membership to numerous honors societies because he was unable to pay the membership fees.

His experience inspired Randall to create an honors program, without dues or fees, that would recognize students based on academic and scholastic achievements. The program was Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges, a distinguished biographical volume that honors the nation's most noteworthy students of higher learning.
