History Comes to Life at CHIME Elementary's 'Living Museum'

What:

Such historical figures as George Washington, Martin Luther King, Jr., Helen Keller and Dr. Seuss will come to life as the students at CHIME Charter Elementary School present a "Living Museum" of people who have made an impact on the world.

Students in kindergarten through fifth grade have each chosen an historical figure to represent for the museum. They've spent weeks learning all they can about their subjects and have each created masks of their chosen person. Parents, teachers and other patrons will have an opportunity to tour the "museum" and query the historical figures themselves about their lives.

The CHIME Institute develops and implements model programs that support all children to achieve their maximum potential, and that provide dynamic research and training environments to disseminate best educational practices.

CHIME includes an infant/toddler program, and charter elementary and middle schools. The elementary and middle schools are independent schools that provide free public education through affiliation with the Los Angeles Unified School District and serve as demonstration and teacher-training sites for Cal State Northridge's nationally acclaimed Michael D. Eisner College of Education.
