CSUN Invites Public to Celebrate
Mexican Culture Through Dance

(NORTHRIDGE, Calif., March 19, 2004) - Cal State Northridge invites the public to spend an evening celebrating traditional Mexican culture through dance, music and theatre on Friday, March 26.

The second annual "Folklor de Mexico Dance Concert," sponsored by Ballet Folkl—rico Aztlan de CSUN (BFA), is slated for 7 to 9:30 p.m. in the university's Performing Arts Center in the University Student Union on the east side of campus at 18111 Nordhoff St. in Northridge.

The concert will feature dance, theatre and live music performances from the Mexican states of Jalisco, Guerrero, Tamaulipas and Veracruz. The performers include Ballet Folkl—rico Aztlan de CSUN, Grandeza Mexicana Folk Dance Company, RHS Alma Mestiza Folkl—rico, Conjunto Macuilxochitl, Mariachi Coculense, Danza Mexica Cuauhtemoc and Teatro Aztlan.

The event costs $15 and tickets can be purchased at the university's Box Office at (818) 677-2488.

Ballet Folkl—rico Aztlan de CSUN has actively performed in many events in and around the Southern California Area since the 1960s. The organization performed at the 30th anniversary celebration of CSUN's Chicano Studies department, as well as at the university's Educational Opportunity Program and Associated Students events. BFA prides itself on educating people about the rich and diverse Mexican culture through its performances in the community.
