CSUN Earth Fair Celebrates Recycling, Environment

(NORTHRIDGE, Calif., April 16, 2004) -- Cal State Northridge will celebrate Earth Week 2004 with a daylong "Earth Fair" and an exhibit that encourages people to recycle.

The recycling and environmental fair will take place Thursday, April 22 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the university's Matador Bookstore Lawn, near the center of the campus at 18111 Nordhoff St. in Northridge.

The event will begin with a series of speakers who will talk about how to recycle and the value of recycling. The fair will culminate at noon with a performance by the CSUN Steel Drum Ensemble.

In addition to the fair, the university's recycling program will display an exhibit entitled, "Recycling...it's that easy," demonstrating how people can make a difference by recycling. The exhibit will be on display throughout the week of April 18 to April 24 in Northridge's Sierra Hall.

Other Earth Week activities include a visit from the City of Los Angeles' HazMobile to collect hazardous waste such as household chemicals, old electronics and computers on Saturday, April 17, and Sunday, April 18, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the university's parking lot F10 located on the corner of Lindley Avenue and Lassen Street.
