Deadline Nearing for CSUN 2004 Fall Semester Applications

(NORTHRIDGE, Calif., Jan. 21, 2004) - Upper-division transfer students interested in attending Cal State Northridge next fall should submit their applications as soon as possible.

The campus is approaching the maximum number of applications it can accommodate in this category for the fall 2004 semester, and university officials warn they may be forced to close the admissions process at any time.

Margaret Fieweger, associate vice president for undergraduate students, said continued enrollment pressures have forced the university to limit applications for next fall.

"Many students are selecting Cal State Northridge because of our reputation for providing quality and affordable education," she said. "But, because of space and budget limitations, we are unable to accommodate every single person who wants to be enrolled here."

Fieweger said the university will not be accepting applications from lower-division transfer students nor from people applying for post-baccalaureate studies who have bachelor's degrees but no master's degree objective listed. Applicants with second bachelor's degrees or second master's degrees also will not be accepted for admission. The campus has already stopped accepting applications from first-time freshmen.

The university is still accepting applications from master's degree and credential program candidates for the fall 2004 semester.

Persons with questions about admissions can call Northridge's Office of Outreach and Recruitment at (818) 677-2967 or the Office of Admissions and Records at (818) 677-3700.
