Headlining that night will be the acclaimed Finch, a band that has received heavy airtime on MTV2 and other music television stations. Joining them will be XO, In Memory and Ohm.

Doors open at 8 p.m., with the first band, XO, going on at 8:30 p.m.

Christopher Sinclair of North Hollywood-based Eye Own Streets Productions, which put the show together, said his company has been looking for a way to put its connections in Los Angeles' music scene to good use. A friend of his who has a sister teaching at CHIME told him about the school.

"What they do is amazing, and they need a music program, so it seemed perfect," Sinclair said.

CHIME Charter Elementary School, and its sister campus, CHIME Charter Middle School, are independent schools that provide free public education through affiliation with the Los Angeles Unified School District.

The schools serve as demonstration and teacher-training sites for Cal State Northridge's nationally acclaimed Michael D. Eisner College of Education. They provide a fully inclusive setting in which children who are gifted, typically developing and have disabilities are educated in the same classroom.

CHIME Charter Elementary School is in the middle of its third year and does not have a music teacher.

Julie Fabrocini, principal at CHIME Charter Elementary School, said she was thrilled when Sinclair contacted her about the possibility of a benefit concert.

"This is definitely a different venue than most elementary schools go through for fund raising," she said. "But it certainly dispels the notion that young adults don't care. Clearly they do. This concert demonstrates that everyone, regardless of age, recognizes the importance of bringing the arts to children. We appreciate everything Christopher and the bands are doing for us."
