CSUN Students Recognized as
National Outstanding Campus Leaders

(NORTHRIDGE Calif., May 22, 2003) ­ Seven Cal State Northridge students have been selected to be included in the 2003 edition of "Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges."

The students were selected based on their academic achievement, service to the community, leadership in extracurricular activities and potential for continued success.

"We are honored that so many of our students have been recognized in 'Who's Who' as it reflects the wonderful work of our students inside and outside of the classroom. I am thrilled that these students are recognized in the national level," said Thomas Piernik, director of CSUN's student development and international programs.

The CSUN students are:

  • Sheila Bare, of Valencia, a graduating senior majoring in English.
  • Emily Dutra, of Van Nuys, a graduate student majoring in college counseling.
  • Kelly Hourigan, of Stevenson Ranch, a graduate student majoring in college counseling.
  • Jennifer Mendoza, of Rancho Cucamonga, a graduate student majoring in college counseling.
  • Jessica Migdol, of Thousand Oaks, a graduating senior majoring in marketing.
  • Sheri Strahl, of Reseda, a graduating senior majoring in psychology.
  • Bita Yaghoobian, of Tarzana, a graduating senior majoring in political science.
