CSUN Police to Offer Tips on Keeping Children Safe at Fair
(NORTHRIDGE, Calif., April 29, 2003) ‹ Parents will have a chance to get their children fingerprinted and pick up tips on how to keep them from harm's way as a part of a National Safe Kids Week observance on Thursday, May 8, at Cal State Northridge.
A "Children's Safety Fair," sponsored by the university's police department, will take place from 8 a.m. to noon in the parking lot of the Associated Students' Children's Center at 18343 Plummer Street on the west side of the campus.
"The university's police officers are hoping to reach out to the community at large and be good neighbors by making available some of the resources we have to offer," said Lt. Fred Fernandez with the CSUN Police Department. "We all have a vested interest in keeping our children safe."
In addition to the information for parents, children will get some safety tips, have an opportunity to dress up as a police officer and have a chance to meet CSUN police officers as well as California Highway Patrol officers and members of the Los Angeles City Fire Department.
