Northridge Names Room in Honor of Alum
(NORTHRIDGE, Calif., Jan. 17, 2003) - Cal State Northridge has named a lecture classroom in honor of alumnus Greg Wallace, who recently endowed a scholarship for accounting students.
The classroom, which serves the College of Business and Economics, is located in the Business Administration Building.
"The naming of a lecture room after Greg Wallace is a fitting tribute for someone who has given so much to the community and his alma mater," said Michael Fronmueller, dean of the College of Business and Economics. "His scholarship will serve as an inspiration for other CSUN students to follow in his footsteps."
Wallace recently established the Greg Wallace Upper Division Accounting Scholarship with a gift of $25,000. He said he was honored to be able to make a gift to the university.
"I feel that education makes a difference," Wallace said. "I had a great educational experience at what was then San Fernando Valley State College and that led me to an incredible profession that I am extremely proud of. I just wanted to make it easier for young people to pursue the same career path."
Wallace received his bachelor's of science degree in business administration from what was then San Fernando Valley State College in 1972. He is a partner with the Los Angeles-based accounting firm Wallace and Asher, CPA, and owns a business management practice.
California State University, Northridge has more than 32,000 full- and part-time students and offers 59 bachelor's and 41 master's degrees as well as 28 education credential programs. Founded in 1958, it is the only four-year university in the San Fernando Valley and the fourth largest in the 23-campus CSU system. The Western Association of Schools and Colleges recently said CSUN "stands as a model to other public urban institutions of higher education."
