For CSUN's Aquatic Therapy Center
(NORTHRIDGE, Calif., April 4, 2003) - The community is invited to join hundreds of other participants at the run, walk and roll on Saturday, April 26, to raise money for the Abbott and Linda Brown Western Center for Adaptive Aquatic Therapy at Cal State Northridge.
CSUN's annual "Run, Walk & Roll" 5K, presented by the 99 Cents Only Stores, will begin at 8:30 a.m. in front of the Brown Center and then lead participants all over the campus at 18111 Nordhoff St. in Northridge.
This year's honorary hosts are NBC4 weatherman Fritz Coleman, former Dodger great Jay Johnstone and actor John Ratzenberger.
The 5K is organized by Friends of the Center of Achievement and Sponsors (FOCUS), a group of volunteers from CSUN's Center of Achievement for the Physically Disabled.
The race is on a fast, flat course. In addition to the 5K walk, run, and wheelchair race, there will also be a 1K fun run for children 12 and under.
The race start times are 8:30 a.m. for the wheelchair roll, 8:32 a.m. for the run and walk, 9:45 a.m. for the 5K awards presentation and 10 a.m. for the kiddie-K.
Proceeds from the event will support the new Abbott and Linda Brown Western Center for Adaptive Aquatic Therapy.
The university recently celebrated the dedication of the center, which is an addition to CSUN's acclaimed Center of Achievement for the Physically Disabled. The Brown Center has four therapeutic pools to aid people with different types of disabilities, each accessible through ramps, stairs or lifts.
