Psychologists, Psychotherapists to Explore Ways
Of Sustaining Human Spirit During Turbulent Times
(NORTHRIDGE, Calif., May 21, 2003) - Psychologists and psychotherapists from around the country will gather at Cal State Northridge next month to explore ways to sustain the human spirit during turbulent times.
The first annual conference sponsored by the Association for Humanistic Psychology in more than five years, "High Hopes: Sustaining Personal Spirit in a Turbulent World," will take place from June 6‹8 in the University Student Union on the east side of the campus off Zelzah Avenue.
"We will have psychologists, some body therapists and some spiritual people there with the idea of trying to help all of us understand ourselves better in a world that is not very friendly right now," said CSUN educational psychology professor Stan Charnofsky, an organizer of the event. "The world seems pretty hostile and angry right now. People are fighting each other all over the world. This is a time to explore peaceful ways of resolving conflict."
Special guests for the three-day conference include state Sen. John Vasconcellos, who will talk about "The Politics of Trust," and noted reality and choice therapy author Dr. William Glasser, who will talk about "Choice Therapy is Humanistic Psychology for Everyone."
Registration for the conference is $255, with discounts available for students or those interested in attending only one day.
