Cal State Northridge¹s Associated Students has teamed up with the American Diabetes Association¹s San Fernando Valley chapter to ensure that the local Latino community has the facts to combat the disease.

The third annual "Latino Diabetes Education Seminar" will take place on Saturday, April 26, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the University Student Union in the Grand Salon, in the center of the campus at 18111 Nordhoff St. in Northridge.

The seminar will feature a keynote address by Nasser Mikhail, an endocrinology professor from UCLA¹s School of Medicine.

Among the topics to be discussed, many in Spanish, is the prevalence of Type 2 diabetes among Latinos, the risk to the children of diabetics and gaining control of blood pressure and cholesterol.
