Lecture to Explore Traditional Chinese Medicine

(NORTHRIDGE, Calif., Feb 18, 2003) - Just what role Western medicine plays in China will be explored during a lecture sponsored by Cal State Northridgešs China Institute on Monday, March 3.

The lecture, "Chinese Traditional Medicine and Philosophy" by Shelly and Andy Tsing, will take place from 10 a.m. to noon in rooms 1214 and 1216 of the Education Building on the west side of the campus off Etiwanda Avenue.

Shelly and Andy Tsing are experienced researchers and practitioners of Chinese medicine who will offer an in-depth look at the role of traditional medicine and how it is interwoven with Chinese philosophy. The Tsingšs also will compare Western medicine to traditional medicine.

Founded on 1982, CSUNšs China Institute has been influential in arranging educational and cultural activities and exchanges between China and United States. As a result, CSUN through the years has entered into dozens of educational exchange agreements with institutions in China.

California State University, Northridge has more than 32,000 full- and part-time students and offers 59 bacheloršs and 41 masteršs degrees as well as 28 education credential programs. Founded in 1958, it is the only four-year university in the San Fernando Valley and the fourth largest in the 23-campus CSU system.
