Applications Being Accepted for New CHIME Middle School
(Northridge, CA, March 21, 2003) - Applications are now being accepted for the new CHIME Charter Middle School which opens this fall, and the CHIME Charter Elementary School, which begins its third year this September.
CHIME Charter Schools are independent schools that provide free public education through affiliation with the Los Angeles Unified School District. The schools serve as demonstration and educator development sites for Cal State Northridge¹s nationally acclaimed Michael D. Eisner College of Education.
"CHIME Charter Schools deliver an excellent public education with a highly qualified and dedicated faculty," said Renee Harvey, the middle school director. "The schools serve a diverse learning community with a curriculum that exceeds California's content standards and that is individualized according to students' strengths and needs so they can achieve their maximum potential."
CHIME Charter Middle School will initially serve approximately 112 students (with no more than 28 in each classroom) in sixth and seventh grades. It will add two eighth grade classes and expand to 156 students in fall of 2004.
The middle school is temporarily located on property belonging to the Cornerstone Christian Church at the corner of Parthenia Street and Winnetka Avenue in Northridge. The elementary school is located on its own campus at 19722 Collier St. in Woodland Hills.
