CSUN to Host the Run, Walk to Raise Funds
for Adaptive Aquatic Facility

(NORTHRIDGE Calif., April 8, 2002) - More than 1,000 runners, walkers and wheelchair participants will take over Cal State Northridge on Saturday, April 20, in an effort to raise money for the Abbott and Linda Brown Western Center for Adaptive Aquatic Therapy.

The "Friends of the Center of Achievement and Sponsors (FOCAS) on Fitness 5K Run, Walk and Roll" will start at 8 a.m. on the Kinesiology field and then lead participants all over the campus at 18111 Nordhoff St. in Northridge.

Former Dodger Jay Johnstone join the participants.

FOCAS is a volunteer group made up of the centeršs clients and relatives of clients. The group was formed to help raise funds for the center and the new adaptive aquatic facility. Most volunteers are in wheelchairs due to injury or disease.

The new aquatic therapy center is an addition to the Center of Achievement for the Physically Disabled. It will have four therapeutic pools to aid people with different types of disabilities. Each will be accessible through ramps, stairs or lifts.

The registration fee is $20 by April 17 and $25 after. For more information or to receive an entry form, contact Marjorie Chase at (818) 677-3001, or email at marjorie.a.chase@csun.edu.
