Six CSUN Professors to be Honored by Engineering Group

(NORTHRIDGE, Calif., Feb. 14, 2002) - Six Cal State Northridge professors will be honored later this month by the San Fernando Valley Engineers' Council for their contribution to education.

Mechanical engineering professor Stewart Prince has been singled out to receive the Distinguished Engineering Educator of the Year Award by the council.

Prince and his colleagues will receive their honors at the council's awards banquet on Saturday, Feb. 23, at the Sportmen's Lodge in Studio City.

"Our faculty are very talented and dedicated engineers, computer scientists and educators," said Diane Schwartz, interim dean of CSUN's College of Engineering and Computer Science. "It is an honor to have their work recognized in this way. We are very proud of them."

Also being honored that evening for Outstanding Engineering Achievement are professors Ichiro Hashimoto in electrical and computer engineering, Tarek Shraibati in manufacturing systems engineering and management, Nagi El Naga in electrical and computer engineering, George Law in electrical and computer engineering and Ahmad Sarfaraz in manufacturing systems engineering and management.
