"Move-Out" Donation Drive to be Held at CSUN

(NORTHRIDGE Calif., May 8, 2002) Moving out? Cleaning out your closet? Don't know what to do with no-longer-needed items? Cal State Northridge's Recycling Services, University Park Apartments and Goodwill Industries have teamed up to collect reusable items beginning Wednesday, May 22, through Friday, May 24.

The Goodwill Donation Station will be located at University Housing, 17950 Lassen St. in Northridge. Goodwill will provide a site attendant from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. to accept donations and issue receipts for tax purposes.

"The donation drive is geared to students moving out of their apartments and gives everyone a chance to 'recycle' all types of items instead of tossing them in the dumpster," said Cyndi Signett, CSUN's recycling coordinator. "This year we're trying something new by having the donation station placed within the housing complex. We hope to keep more useful things out of the trash and into the lives of others."

Acceptable items include books, blankets, bedspreads, clothing, toys, office supplies, computers and other small home appliances.

Items collected and sold in Goodwill thrift shops raise funds for local vocational rehabilitation and job training programs for people with physical and developmental disabilities.

For more information about donating, call Cyndi Signett at (818) 677-2477 ext. 241, or Goodwill Industries at (323) 223-1211.
