CSUN Presentation Celebrates Women

(NORTHRIDGE, Calif., March 23, 2001) - In honor of the contributions of women both famous and unknown, Cal State Northridge concludes Women's History Month with a presentation celebrating women from all walks of life on Wednesday, March 28.

"Activism and Academe: Bringing Women Together" will feature women's rights activist Joannie Parker and a video of significant women of the past and present titled "One Fine Day."

Parker, former president of the National Organization for Women, received the Life-time Achievement Award from the National Women's Political Caucus and California Women's Law Center. She will narrate the video as it shows women the audience may or may not recognize, including Sally Ride, the first American woman in space, and Gloria Steinem, journalist and women's rights activist.

The event will be held from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. in the Grand Salon of the University Student Union on the eastside of campus. It is sponsored by CSUN's Child Development Club and the Child Development Alumni Club.
