Event at CSUN Gives High School Juniors
a Preview to College
(NORTHRIDGE, Calif., April 20, 2001) - More than 1,000 high school students are expected to converge at Cal State Northridge on Tuesday, April 24, to get the latest information on applying to college while at the same time getting a taste of college life.
"University Preview Day for High School Juniors" will take place from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the University Student Union.
"The purpose of the event is to expose high school juniors to CSUN and help them in their transition from high school to college," said Jerry De Felice, assistant coordinator of pre-college programs for CSUNšs Student Outreach and Recruitment Services, which is sponsoring the event.
There will be panel presentations on college admissions, financial aid and housing. The high school juniors will also tour the campus. Later in the day, they will be tested in a "Knowledge Bowl" on what they know about CSUN and the California State University System.
CSUN students and staff will serve as greeters, facilitators, presenters and tour guides during the event.
There will be a second "University Preview Day for High School Juniors" from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Tuesday, May 1, also in the USU.
