Business Strategist to Offer Tips on Effective
Human Resource Organization at CSUN Breakfast
(NORTHRIDGE, Calif., March 20, 2001) - USC business strategist Susan A. Mohrman will talk about how businesses can use their human resources more effectively at an invitation-only breakfast Thursday, April 5, at Cal State Northridge.
Mohrman, a senior research scientist at the Center for Effective Organizations in the Marshall School of Business at USC, is the second featured speaker to take part in CSUN's new Center for Management and Organization Development's Distinguished Speaker Series. The first was business guru Barry Posner.
"This continues the effort of the center to truly provide quality resources to the business community by linking well known researchers with business leaders to establish a dialogue for progressive change," said Alan Glassman, a CSUN management professor and a founding member of the center.
Mohrman will take part in the breakfast discussion with about 50 senior executives from some of the San Fernando Valley's leading companies. After a brief presentation, participants will have an opportunity to take part in a lengthy give-and-take with Mohrman.
The event is scheduled to begin at 7 a.m. in the Presentation Room of the Oviatt Library in the center of the campus at 18111 Nordhoff St. in Northridge.
Mohrman's latest books include Creating a Strategic Human Resources Function, Tomorrow's Organization: Crafting Winning Capabilities in a Dynamic Worldand Organizing for High Performance.She has served on the Board of Governors of the Academy of Management and is currently on the board of the Human Resource Planning Society.
The Center for Management and Organization Development, which is housed in CSUN's College of Business Administration and Economics, is a consulting practice that brings real-world experiences into the academic setting while providing businesses and non-profit agencies access to the university's prestigious business faculty.
The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors recently awarded the center a five-year contract, worth $2.18 million the first year, to expand a highly successful leadership training academy it runs for county employees.
