Donation Drive at CSUN, Check It Out
(NORTHRIDGE, Calif., May 17, 2001) - Finish off spring cleaning and end-of-semester packing by bringing no-longer-needed items to the Check Out Donation Drive at Cal State Northridge from Saturday, May 19, through Monday, May 28.
"The donation drive is geared to students moving out of their dorms and gives everyone a chance to recycle all types of household and other items no longer needed or wanted," said Cyndi Signett, CSUNšs recycling coordinator. "Because of its location, the community has the opportunity to donate items, too."
The donation center will be located at CSUNšs student Lot T near Lindley Avenue and Lassen Street. An attendant will be available daily from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. to issue receipts for tax purposes.
Acceptable items include books, blankets, bedspreads, clothing, toys, furniture, computers and other small home appliances.
The items collected will be sold in Goodwill thrift shops to raise funds for local vocational rehabilitation and job training programs for people with physical and developmental disabilities.
The event is sponsored by CSUNšs University Recycling Program, an Associated Students program, Student Housing and Goodwill Industries.
For more information on acceptable and reusable items, contact Signett at (818) 677-2477 x241 or Goodwill Industries at (818) 782-2520.
