CSUNšs China Institute Hosts
Chinese New Year Banquet
(NORTHRIDGE, Calif., Feb. 8, 2001) - According to the Chinese lunar calendar, Jan. 24 marked the beginning of the year of the snake. To celebrate the new year and remember the old, Cal State Northridgešs China Institute will host a Chinese New Year banquet on Saturday, March 3.
Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the Institutešs work in the past year, meet CSUNšs new president, Jolene Koester, and new visiting scholars, enjoy a program of authentic Chinese performances, and get information about the Institutešs upcoming events and activities.
The banquet will begin at 6 p.m. at the Mandarin Wok, located at 21800 Victory Blvd. in Woodland Hills.
Everyone is welcome to attend. A $50 or more membership contribution to the China Institute buys dinner for two at the banquet. Each additional seat is $25.

Members of the China Institute are put on a mailing list and given opportunities to participate in talks, cultural events and sometimes trips.
California State University, Northridge has more than 27,000 full- and part-time students and offers 48 bachelor's and 39 master's degrees. Founded in 1958, it is the only four-year university in the San Fernando Valley.
