Benefit Concert at CSUN to Help CHIME Charter School

(NORTHRIDGE, Calif., May 4, 2001) - Cal State Northridgešs College of Education alumni chapter has joined with the CHIME Institute for Children with Special Needs to present "A Broadway Voice for All Children" on Friday, May 25.

The benefit concert, featuring pianist Gregg Jaspers and Tim Shew, who has starred in such Broadway musicals as "Les Miserables" and "Sunset Blvd.," will begin at 8 p.m. in CSUNšs Performing Arts Center, 18111 Nordhoff St., Northridge.

Proceeds will benefit the CHIME Charter School scheduled to open in September 2001. The school will be a laboratory site for CSUNšs College of Education, training hundreds of teachers each year on ways to include and support children with disabilities in the classroom.

Proceeds will go towards materials and equipment, subsidized after-school child care, classroom furniture, physical activity consultants and programs, American Sign Language classes and more.

Ticket prices are $25 (general seating) and $100 (includes reception and preferred seating). The eveningšs events include a reception at 6:30 p.m. and a raffle at 7:15 p.m. prior to the concert.
