CSUN Financial Aid Workshop
Teaches that "College is Possible"

(NORTHRIDGE, Calif., Feb. 5, 2001) - The cost of a college education can be intimidating, but Cal State Northridge¹s fifth annual Financial Aid 101 workshop lets college hopefuls know that help is available.

The free workshop, offered by the university¹s Financial Aid Office, will be held Monday, Feb. 19, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m in the Performing Arts Center of the University Student Union on the east side of campus at 18111 Nordhoff St.

This year¹s theme is "College is Possible," and the workshop is designed to inform CSUN¹s incoming freshmen about financial aid issues.

The agenda includes a welcome ceremony at 10 a.m., a scholarship session at 11 a.m., followed by breakout sessions beginning at noon. Topics include student loan information, Cal Grants, a line-by-line overview of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), budgeting tips, and the financial aid process at CSUN.

"We have had wonderful feedback about the helpfulness of this workshop from students who have attended in the past," said financial aid counselor Adrianne Weinberg. "Students can see that the Financial Aid Office is dedicated to making their stay at CSUN a success."

Approximately 800 students from local and regional high schools and their families are expected to attend.

Those interested in attending can register on the day of the workshop at 9 a.m. in the lobby of the Northridge Center in the University Student Union. Free parking is available at Parking Lot C on the east side of campus.
