Panel to Speak on Afghanistan at CSUN
(NORTHRIDGE, Calif., May 11, 2001) - A panel of speakers from several Southland universities will come together at Cal State Northridge on Thursday, May 17, to talk about Afghanistan.
The public is invited to participate in "Teach-in on Afghanistan," a free event that will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on the east side of campus at the Grand Salon in the University Student Union, 18111 Nordhoff St., Northridge.
Topics to be discussed include the Taliban, Afghan communities, womenıs rights, human rights, and the role of the U.S. government in Afghanistan.
The panel will include Nake Kamrani of the University of Southern California, Maliha Zulfacar of California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, Davood M. Nazaar Phillips of Cypress College and Nancy Gallagher of the University of California, Santa Barbara.
A reception with free Afghani food, music and dance performances will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. followed by a panel discussion from 7 to 9 p.m.
