Heinke, a nationally recognized expert on free speech, specializes in trial and appellate work on issues related to the First Amendment, defamation, invasion of privacy, commercial speech, access to government records and court proceedings as well as access to the media, right of publicity, reporter's privilege issues and the Internet.

The First Amendment Forum is held to honor the memory of Kenneth S. Devol, an early member and former chair of CSUN's Department of Journalism, who taught courses in mass communication law. Proceeds from the dinner will benefit students via a variety of events that promote excellence in journalism.
Tickets for the event are $55 per person, $600 to sponsor a table of 10, or $1,000 for a table of 10 and a full-page ad in the program. A 6 p.m. reception will start the evening at the Hilton, 555 Universal Terrace Parkway, Universal City.
