While some coaches were sanctioned as a result of the investigation, Wall and Borges were never suspected of any wrongdoing, nor found to have engaged in any. In fact, the two assistants fully cooperated with the university during the investigation and followed university directions without exception.
Under the settlement, Wall and Borges will teach physical education classes at CSUN through the end of calendar year 2000. They also will receive additional compensation when they leave university employment.
"The university is very pleased to have resolved this matter," said CSUN Athletic Director Dick Dull. "As I have said before, these two men did nothing wrong and did what CSUN asked them to do during the football inquiry. The university wishes them well in their future careers."
Nancy Fineman, an attorney for Wall and Borges, added, "My clients are very pleased with the settlement and that the university has publicly recognized their role in the football inquiry."
