FOR RELEASE:
Dec. 2, 1999
A public reception will be held on Monday, Dec. 6, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. to open Threshold and honor student exhibitors.
The show will feature works of different styles and various media, including painting, sculpture, video, graphic design and mixed media. The exhibitions were individually selected by art teachers from each of the 35 participating high schools.
The popularity of this exhibition signals the continued and growing interest of arts programs in the schools, organizers said. The transition from 1999 to 2000 provides a unique threshold for emerging artists to debate past traditions and propose future trends.
Participating high schools include: Aggeler, Alemany, Birmingham, Burbank, Buckley, Campbell, Canoga Park, Cleveland, El Camino, Faith Baptist, Granada Hills, Grant, Harvard Westlake, J. Francis Poly, Jane Addams, John F. Kennedy, LA Baptist, Diane Leichman, Miguel Leonis, Louisville, James Monroe, Milliken, Montclair, Notre Dame, North Hollywood, Reseda, Sherman Oaks CES, Stoney Point, Sylmar, Taft, Valley Alternative, Van Nuys, Viewpoint, Will Rogers and Zane Grey.
CSUN's Art Galleries are located in the Art Dome, ML 236, on the south side of the campus on Nordhoff Street. Gallery hours are Monday and Saturday, noon to 4 p.m., and Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Art Galleries will be closed from Dec. 24 to Jan. 5 for the holidays.
