Prator, who was president of San Fernando Valley State College from 1958 to 1968, is being honored along with his late wife Lois by the CSUN University Women's Association. Prator recently gave the group a $10,000 gift for student scholarships in memory of his wife.
The brunch comes as CSUN is poised for the appointment of its fourth permanent president in the campus'¹ 41-year history. Prator launched the first decade, followed by James Cleary, who oversaw the transition to Cal State Northridge, and then by Blenda J. Wilson, who served from 1992 to 1999.
The first CSUN student to benefit from the Prators' scholarship donation, opera student Sara Kleeman, will sing at the brunch. The Woodland Hills Country Club is located at 21150 Dumetz Rd., Woodland Hills.
The University Women's Association is a campus support group that began with a membership focus on the spouses of campus faculty members, and now raises funds for student scholarships. For additional information about the brunch, contact Betsy Stelck at (818) 886-1170.
