CSUN to Present Plays in Celebration of Pan African Studies

(NORTHRIDGE, Calif.) - Cal State Northridge's Pan African Studies Department will mark the 30th anniversary of the 1969 student revolt that led to its creation with the performance of two plays on Thursday, Nov. 4 at the university.

The performance will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Grand Salon of the University Student Union on the eastside of the campus at 18111 Nordhoff St., Northridge.

The day will feature two original plays by black playwright S.K. Anduron - "Coming Home: A Conversation with Harriet Tubman," featuring professor Monica Turner, and "Wait for the Signal: The Last Speech of Denmark Vesey," featuring student O.G. McClinton.

There will also be gospel musical performances by the CSUN-BSU New Generational Gospel Choir, under the direction of Daryl Walter and a panel discussion with members of the Pan African Studies Department and the Black Student Union.

The program is sponsored by the DuBois-Hamer Institute at Cal State Northridge and the University Performing Arts Center.
