CSUN Holds Multicultural Week on Campus
(NORTHRIDGE, Calif.) - Cal State Northridge's Multicultural Psychology Association (MPA) is hosting its first Multicultural Week on campus this week.
"We want to improve race relations on campus between ethnic groups by creating a public forum where everyone can communicate their ideas freely to promote a more favorable campus environment," said Marc J. Williams, MPA president. "We want to bring all ethnic groups together in a way we can communicate, have fun and experience other cultures."
The events include:
- Tuesday, Nov. 30: The Multicultural Frenzy will take place at the Sierra Quad in the center of the campus at 18111 Nordhoff St., Northridge, from noon to 2 p.m. where a taste of the various ethnic dishes can be sampled for free.
- Wednesday, Dec. 1: The Multicultural Conference will take place at the University Student Union's Grand Salon on the east side of the campus from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. to discuss "The Problem of Race Relations on Our Campuses." Administrators, students, families and the community are invited to attend. Local high school students have been invited to participate.
- Thursday, Dec. 2: Cultural Day Pride encourages individuals to show their cultural pride by wearing attire from their different backgrounds or simply the colors of their countries. Friday,
- Dec. 3: Cultural Performance Day will include dancing and singing from different cultural performers from noon to 2 p.m. in the Grand Salon. Performances by the USC Fly Girls and other cultural student organizations are expected.
