The ceremony will take place at 1:30 p.m. at the reflecting pond located near the west side of campus at 18111 Nordhoff St. in Northridge.
In addition to carrying students around the campus, the shuttle will also provide service for the community between the campus and the Northridge Metrolink station.
The new shuttle system is the result of an agreement between the university and West Valley Smart Shuttle, a part of the Los Angeles Department of Transportation, and replaces one funded by the Federal Emergency Management Agency after the Northridge Earthquake.
The new shuttles, which will hold 18 to 22 passengers, will run from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and to 5:30 p.m. on Friday and cover two routes.
Route A will travel around the campus core from Lindley Avenue to Nordhoff Street to Darby Avenue to Prairie Street to Parking Lot L to Etiwanda Avenue to Plummer Street.
Route B will travel from lower Parking Lot T on Lassen Street to Zelzah Avenue to Plummer Street, past Parking Lot C to Lindley Avenue, up Plummer to Etiwanda to Halstead Street to Lindley, and back to Parking Lot T.
The Northridge Metrolink Shuttle will run along Lindley and Plummer for trains scheduled for the Northridge Metrolink Station from 7:15 to 9:30 a.m. and from 3:15 to 5:40 p.m. Monday through Friday.
