CSUN Offers Workshop on Substance Abuse

Cal State Northridge is offering a work shop on substance abuse for mental health professionals on Saturday, Nov. 21, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Business/Education Auditorium at the corner of Etiwanda Avenue and Plummer Street.

It is one of a series of workshops the university's educational psychology and counseling centers are offering this fall to help mental health professionals keep abreast of changes and new information in their field.

Teresa Jacobs, a CSUN professor and director of the San Antonio Boys Home, and Irwin Jacobs, director of the Los Angeles County Acton Rehabilitation Center, will provide participants an understanding of how to assess and diagnosis substance abuse.

The workshop series has been approved by the California Association of Counseling and Development, the California Psychological Association Accrediting Agency and the Board of Behavioral Sciences.

The series is designed to provide quality continuing education and training to licensed counselors, teachers, school psychologist, interns and other mental health professionals.

Fees vary. To register or for more information about the series, call Amy Miller, president of CCDA-CSUN Student Chapter at 310/815-9194 or Diana Castle at 818/677-2549.
