It is one of a series of workshops the university's Centers in Educational Psychology and Counseling are offering this fall to help mental health professionals keep abreast of changes and new information in their field.
Miriam Davis, who has a private practice in Beverly Hills and Burbank, will provide a comprehensive overview of the major medical, psychiatric, social and treatment issues impacting individuals with HIV or AIDS and their families. Topics include the history of the disease, treatments, drug protocols, community resources, dual diagnosis, bereavement and suicide.
The workshop series has been approved by the California Association of Counseling and Development, the California Psychological Association Accrediting Agency and the Board of Behavioral Sciences.
The series is designed to provide quality continuing education and training to licensed counselors, teachers, school psychologists, interns and other mental health professionals.
The workshop fees vary. To register or for more information about the series, call Amy Miller, president of CCDA-CSUN Student Chapter, at 310/815-9194 or Diana Castle at 818/677-2549.
