Workshop to Explore Career Strategies
for Mental Health Professionals

Cal State Northridge is offering a working shop on career strategies for mental health professionals on Saturday, Oct. 31, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Business/Education Auditorium at the corner of Etiwanda Avenue and Plummer Street.

It is one of a series of workshops the university's Centers in Educational Psychology and Counseling are offering this fall to help mental health professionals keep abreast of changes and new information in their field.

Greg Jackson, coordinator of CSUN's graduate program in educational psychology and a career counselor, will provide practical strategies and information for the exploration of career options for counseling professionals, as well as marketing efforts and tips on making private practice work.

The workshop series has been approved by the California Association of Counseling and Development, the California Psychological Association Accrediting Agency and the Board of Behavioral Sciences.

The series is designed to provide quality continuing education and training to licensed counselors, teachers, school psychologist, interns and other mental health professionals. Future workshops will cover such topics as substance abuse, HIV education, multicultural communication, how to help clients deal with bereavement, and career strategies.

Workshop fees vary. To register or for more information about the series, call Amy Miller, president of CCDA-CSUN Student Chapter at 310/815-9194 or Diana Castle at 818/677-2549.
