The forum, sponsored by Student Outreach and Recruitment Services, will be held Friday, Sept. 25, 1998 from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Grand Salon of the University Student Union on the east side of campus at 18111 Nordhoff St., Northridge.
"This is an excellent opportunity for showcasing the University, its colleges and services to personnel who work directly with students considering CSUN," said Britt A. Ortiz, assistant director Outreach/Freshman Programs.
"While we normally target new students and their families during open house, this forum will give high school college counselors and teachers the opportunity to see that CSUN has recovered and that we are in full bloom again," Ortiz added.
More than 120 high school college advisors, counselors, teachers, chairs of science, math, english, and ESL departments, as well as middle school administrators will gather together to learn, share ideas and seek information on college preparation.
The University will host three workshops that cover a variety of topics including scholarships and financial aid, admissions policies, and career trends. Additional panels will include "Pre-College Parnterships, " "First-year Transition Services," as well as a disussion on Remediation Issuses and Policies, which will be held from 1:15 p.m. to 2:45 p.m.
"This workshop will provide an opportunity to take a solution-oriented approach to come up with proactive solutions to deal with the issues of remediation and policies between students, University staff and administrators," said Ortiz.
