"These new computers will expand the opportunities for children with disabilities to be included in the classroom experience," said Barbara Hill, director of administration for the CDFR Lab School.
Eight new Power Macintoshes with CD-ROM drives and color printers will be installed Wednesday, Sept. 23, with training for staff that will begin Thursday, Sept. 24, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
A pizza social will take place on Friday, Sept. 25, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. for families to learn more about the computers and the program.
The computers will be distributed among classrooms at the CDFR Lab at CSUN, an instructional unit of the Family Environmental Sciences Department, as well as the Chime Infant Toddler program, which is housed off-campus.
The CHIME Inclusion Program, which is operated by the College of Education is located at the CDFR Lab School and enables children with significant disabilities to attend regular preschool and kindergarten programs along with typically developing children.
The Alliance for Technology Access (ATA) is working with the Mattel Foundation in supporting access to educational technology by students.
For more information, please contact Barbara Hill at the CDFR Lab School at 818/677-3131.
