Director Lillian Lehman, a 30-year veteran actress, has enlisted the talents of Rahn Coleman as musical director and Candy Brown Houston as choreographer to help guide the 35-member student cast.
An associate professor at CSUN, Lillian Lehman regularly appears on television and in film. Recent roles include episodes of "Nash Bridges," "ER" and "Sparks." She has a recurring role on the NBC soap "Sunset Beach" as Lena Hart, Vanessa's mother.
Rahn Coleman is an arranger, composer and musical director who has toured and studied internationally. She conducted an 110-piece orchestra with Aretha Franklin for President Clinton's inauguration.
Candy Brown Houston has worked on the Broadway stage with Gower Champion, Hal Prince and Bob Fosse in "Pippen" and "Chicago" and appeared on stage, film and television in "The Colored Museum," "NYPD Blue," and "Ellen."
The cast began intensive rehearsals Jan. 5 for the singing, dancing and staging of "The Wiz," an upbeat adaptation of "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz."
Performances will be at 8 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays, 2 and 8 p.m. Saturdays and 5 p.m. Sundays.
Tickets are available at the Student Union Ticket Office (818) 677-3093 from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday and at the door two hours prior to curtain. Ticket prices are $12 general, $10 senior/faculty and $7 for students. The Campus Theatre is located on the west side of the campus at 18111 Nordhoff St., Northridge.
