The one-day event aims to enhance community knowledge on violence prevention through a series of workshops and exhibits.
Thirteen different workshops will be held dealing with topics such as relationship violence; violence against immigrant, garment and agricultural workers; welfare, poverty, and the economics of violence and same sex domestic violence. Speakers range from professionals, advocates and survivors who will address violence against women from a broad sense and from a multi-cultural point of view.
The event will also showcase the Clothesline Project, an international survivor art project that documents personal accounts of violence, a multi-media gallery, poetry readings and other educational exhibits.
The conference is free and will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., in the University Student Union, located at 18111 Nordhoff St., in Northridge.
