Solis' appearance is part of the university's celebration of the 10th anniversary of its Commission on the State of Women, which monitors and offers recommendations on issues affecting women at the campus.
Solis is scheduled to speak from noon to 2 p.m. in the Grand Salon of the University Student Union, on the east side of the campus at 18111 Nordhoff St. in Northridge.
Solis was the first Latina elected to the California Senate. A former member of the Rio Hondo Community College Board of Trustees, she has been an advocate for higher education, women's issues and the environment.
Attendees are encouraged to bring canned or packaged food in observance of World Hunger Day.
Solis' appearance is sponsored by CSUN's College of Social and Behavioral Sciences, Commission on the Status of Women, Faculty Senate, Presidential Advisory Board on Equity and Diversity, and Student Dietetic and Food Science Association.
