CSUN Religious Fair to Sow Seeds of Coexistence

Cal State Northridge and the San Fernando Valley Interfaith Council will host a day of workshops and speakers that reflect the Valley's diverse religious character Saturday, Sept. 27, at the university.

The fair, "Cultures and Religions: Seeds of Coexistence," will cover a broad range of religious topics, from mainstream American faiths to Zen and witchcraft, said organizers Jeff Utter of the Valley Interfaith Council and Allyn Axelton, director of the CSUN United Campus Ministry.

"It will be an opportunity for people to learn about the great religious diversity within our community," Axelton said.

The fair will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the University Student Union near the east side of the campus at 18111 Nordhoff St. in Northridge.

The day will feature more than 25 workshops, including "Can Same-Sex Unions Receive Religious Blessing?," "What Evangelical Protestants Believe," "Messianic Ideas in Judaism," "How Open Can I Be?," "The Truth About Witchcraft: An Introduction to the Modern Resurgence of an Ancient Religion," "Protecting Religious Freedom in American," and "Religion in the Movies."

Registration is $15 and will include a box lunch. For more information, call (8180 677-5814.
