Masao Abe, an Emeritus professor of Japanese philosophy in Nara, Japan, will speak on, "Jesus Christ and Guatama Buddha" on Saturday, Feb. 7; "Zen and Buddhism" on Saturday, Feb. 14, and conclude with, "Life and Death, Good and Evil in Zen" on Saturday, March 7.
Abe is recognized by academicians and church leaders as the foremost exponent of Zen Buddhism. He has devoted the last three decades writing, publishing and lecturing on Buddhist-Christian dialogue in Europe, Asia and the United States.
He has also served as a visiting professor at Columbia University, the University of Chicago, Princeton University, the Claremont Graduate School, Purdue University and the University of Hawaii.
All lectures are from 10 a.m. to noon and will be held in the Matador bookstore complex in room #102, located on the south side of campus at 18111 Nordhoff St., in Northridge.
