The popular event, which is expected to attract up to 10,000 visitors and participants to the CSUN campus, has been expanded from one to two days this year.
Hours are 1 to 10 p.m. Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday. Saturday's events will include the grand entry at 1 p.m. and gourd dancing at 6 p.m. On Sunday, Mothers' Day, there will be a special tribute to mothers at 2 p.m., gourd dancing at noon and the grand entry at 1 p.m.
Contest dancing, arts and crafts displays and foods representing the various tribes will be featured throughout the two days.
CSUN's American Indian Student Assn. was chartered in 1974 to coordinate academic achievement with cultural awareness and to enrich the community with a general understanding of American Indians. The recruitment, retention and motivation of American Indians to attend CSUN or any higher educational institution is an integral part of its purpose.
