Cal State Northridge will host the exclusive performance of the Moscow Chamber Orchestra on Friday, April 24, in the Performing Arts Center.
The orchestra will be performing in the United States for the first time in twenty years under the direction of Constantine Orbellan. The orchestra presently maintains a touring schedule of 80 concerts a year throughout Europe, Asia, South America and Scandinavia.
Featured in the program will be the second performance of "Concertino" by Shostakovich, arranged by guest artist pianist Julia Zilberquist; "Variations on a Theme by Tchalkovsky" by Arensky; "Five Fugitives" by Prokofiev; and "Serenade" by Tchalkovsky in Op. 48 in C major.
The program is also sponsored by the City of Los Angeles Cultural Affairs Department.
The Performing Arts Center is located on the east side of campus at 18111 Nordhoff St. in Northridge.
General admission tickets are $25, $15 for seniors and $10 for students. Tickets can be purchased at the Associated Students Ticket office, at (818) 677-2488.
